FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (January 30, 2020) -
The Northern Arizona University track & field program will be hosting its third home indoor meet of the 2020 season, the Mountain T's Invitational, on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1 at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome. The first day of competition is slated to start at 9:00 A.M. (MST), with day two beginning at approximately 8:00 A.M. (MST).

The Lumberjack men are currently ranked as the No. 13 program in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches' Poll released earlier this week. The NAU men sit in the No. 3 spot in the latest USTFCCCA Mountain Regional Rankings, with the NAU women positioned in the No. 16 spot heading into Week 2 of rankings.

The 'Jacks will face off against the following programs this weekend: Air Force Academy, California State Dom. Hills, Caltech, Grand Canyon University, San Diego State, Southern Utah, UC Riverside and Whittier College.

The Northern Arizona men's team moved up 12 spots from No. 25 in the preseason poll in the latest rankings. NAU has been off to a hot start in 2020 as the program has already seen two team meets, a national championship in the USATF Junior Men's 8K by Corey Gorgas and now a new American collegiate record set by Tyler Day in the Men's Indoor 5K. Last Friday evening Day ran for a time of 13:16.95 to top the previous record held by Oregon Ducks runner Galen Rupp (13:18.2). The 'Jacks were the only Big Sky Conference team to make the top-25 in the National Coaches' Poll, while four other programs found their way into the top-12 of the Mountain Region.

On the women's end of things Flagstaff native and true freshman, Madeline Wilson, has a chance to break the school Women's Heptathlon record this weekend. The current record set by Monique Donithan in 1982 is 3,366 points.
