FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 6, 2020) – Northern Arizona men's tennis returns to Big Sky play at Southern Utah University this Saturday for a match at 12 p.m. in St. George, Utah.
The Thunderbirds are 3-5 on the season, winning over Colorado State University – Pueblo (7-0), Metropolitan State University of Denver (4-3) and more recently, Colorado Mesa University (7-0) on Feb. 21.
The last time the Lumberjacks faced off against Southern Utah was during the 2019 regular spring season, where NAU won 5-2. The 'Jacks have been on a seven-game winning streak since 2013, winning 7-0 for four years in a row.
Last week, Northern Arizona (5-7) faced two tough other Utah opponents: Utah State and the University of Utah. The Lumberjacks clinched the match after taking the doubles point and a singles court win by
Daniel Dillon sealed the match, 4-3. Against Utah, Dillon was the sole court to win in singles going 3-6, 6-2, and winning the tiebreaker 10-5, preventing the Utes to shutout the 'Jacks.
This is only the second Big Sky Conference for both teams, and NAU will not play against another Big Sky opponent until March 22 when they take on Sacramento State at home.
