Lumberjack Q&A with Sam Larberg

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (May 26, 2020) – Rising Junior Sam Larberg appeared in 18 of the 19 total contests NAU soccer competed in, starting in 13 matches.

All throughout her 722 minutes of game play, Larberg took 15 shots, with eight being on-goal and Larberg tallied her first goal against Idaho (Oct. 18) just 10 minutes into the game. She also went on to assist her teammates in scoring three times.

Q: Where are you right now and what does a normal day look like for you?

A: I am currently at home in Lake Tapps, Wash. A normal day for me looks like getting up, having breakfast and then doing a workout. I typically do some chores or random projects around the house, and go play soccer with a couple of my old club teammates. My family and I usually eat dinner together and play some card games or watch HGTV to end the night.

Q: What are you most looking forward to when you get back to competing on the field?

A: I am most looking forward to playing with my teammates on Lumberjack Field!

Q: What is motivating or encouraging you to push through these difficult times?

A: My teammates and coaches. Staying in touch with them, holding each other accountable, and knowing everyone is putting in the work during these uncertain times has kept me motivated.

Q: How did you first get into your sport?

A: I have been playing soccer since I was about four years old. Over the years my coaches, parents and teammates have influenced my love for the game.

Q: If you could be a dual-sport athlete at NAU, what sport would you compete in and why?

A: I would definitely play volleyball, I played in middle school and thought it was so much fun. I still love to go play sand volleyball in the summer.

Q: If you could pick any other NAU student-athlete to try out your sport, who would it be and why?

A: Emma Sjolund. She runs cross country and track, we actually went to high school together and were in gymnastics class together when we were about four years old! She is a little beast and I bet she could run around anyone.

Q: What is your best soccer memory ever?

A: My favorite memory of soccer would definitely be when we did karaoke on the bus ride in New York. There is a reason our team plays soccer.

Q: What is your major and what are your career aspirations?

A: I am majoring in Biomedical Science with a minor in Business. My goal is to go into healthcare project management or hospital administration.
