FARMINGTON, Utah (February 17, 2021) – After a solid 2021 debut, junior
Ashley Croft picked up the season's first Big Sky Women's Golfer of the Week award in an announcement by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
Croft led the Northern Arizona golf team at the Rebel Beach Invitational, carding a 7-over par 223 (77-73-73) at the season-opening tournament at Spanish Trail Country Club.
The honor is Croft's second of her career with both following play at the Rebel Beach Invitational. Croft received the Golfer of the Week award as a freshman in 2019. Ironically, NAU has earned Golfer of the Week honors three consecutive years after the tournament in Las Vegas with junior
Aleksandra Chekalina garnering the award last year.
Croft opened the tournament on Monday with a 5-over par 77, parring 13 of 18 holes in the first round. Finishing the day in a tie for 46th, Croft would eventually finish in a tie for 12th on the individual leaderboard marking her ninth career top 20 finish. It was her best finish since tying for eighth at the 2019 New Mexico State Aggie Invitational and third-best finish of her career.
The third-year Lumberjack from Southend-on-sea, Essex, England concluded the Rebel Beach Invitational with back-to-back rounds of 1-over par 73. In Tuesday's final round, she birdied holes 3, 4 and 6 in a four-hole span and wound up tied for the team-lead with six birdies in the tournament.
Croft's 37 pars in the tournament wound up tying her for fourth amongst all players.
