Men’s Tennis Opens Season against Arizona State in Tempe on Sunday

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 5, 2021) – Northern Arizona men's tennis looks to open its season this upcoming weekend in Tempe, Ariz., against PAC-12 school, Arizona State.

On the season, the Sun Devils are already 2-1, earning wins over Grand Canyon University (7-0) and Florida Atlantic (4-3). In addition to starting their season positively, ASU's players remain ranked in both singles, doubles and a top-ten newcomers list.

Junior Corrado Summaria is currently ranked No. 90 in singles. In addition to his singles rank, Summaria and Tim Zeitvogel are marked at No. 58, while the duo of Daniel DeJonge and Adrian Oetzbach are No. 34. The Sun Devils also have Guy Den Ouden, who was ranked No. 1 on the ITA's Top-Ten Newcomers list.

While this will be the fifth match for ASU, this marks the first for Northern Arizona since March 7, 2020. The Lumberjacks took a 5-2 win over former Big Sky opponent, Southern Utah. After losing the doubles point, the 'Jacks won five of their singles matches to come back, with wins from returners Eban Straker-Meads (6-3, 6-3), Facundo Tumosa (6-1, 6-4), Alex Groves (7-5, 6-7, 11-9), Chris Steele (6-3, 6-2) and Daniel Dillon (6-3, 6-2).

Freshmen Dominik Buzonics and Maciej Ziomber, as well as transfer student from Louisville, Marcus Sulen, will look to make their first debuts on the court as Lumberjacks.

Beyond Northern Arizona, the Big Sky Conference coaches voted Northern Arizona as the Preseason Favorite for the third consecutive year in a row.
