Big Sky Names Paige Maling and Taryn Benham as Players of the Week

FARMINGTON, Utah (February 8, 2021) – After winning their season opener, 2-0, against Grand Canyon University on Sunday, Feb. 7, the Big Sky Conference has named Paige Maling as Offensive Player of the Week and Taryn Benham as Defensive Player of the Week.

This marks as both student-athletes' second time receiving the weekly award. Maling received her honor during the 2019 season while it has been since 2017 for Benham, her freshman year.

During her 90 minutes of play at keeper, Benham recorded her first shutout of the 2020-21 season and her 17th all-time. Posting her first shutout win, Benham made six saves to keep GCU scoreless.

On the offensive side, Maling received assists on both Abby Donathan and Kayla Terhune's goals. Maling played on the field for a total of 69 minutes, setting up the team to make plays and score against the 'Lopes. In total, the Lumberjacks took 10 shots forcing GCU's goalie to make one save.

The seniors will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 20 to play against the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz.
