Day One of Jim Click Shootout Combined Events in the Books

TUCSON, Ariz. (April 8, 2021) - The sun has set on the first day of the Jim Click Shootout Combined Events. Today's portion of the women's heptathlon consisted of the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, and the 200-meter dash. Freshman Madeline Wilson was the only Lumberjack in the field today and finished in 11th overall with 2895 points. 

The women's heptathlon features athletes from Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Washington. 

Wilson's collegiate heptathlon debut began with the women's 100-meter hurdles; Wilson placed 10th with a time of 14.95 and started the day with 848 total points. 

The next event was the women's high jump. 

Wilson jumped 1.54 meters and placed 13th in the women's high jump, adding 666 points to total 1514 points. 

Later, the women's shot put saw Wilson throw 10.21 meters to finish ninth in the event and earn a sum of 2057 points to maintain her 11th place slot. 

The last event of the day was the women's 200-meter dash. 

Wilson sprinted a new personal best outdoor time of 25.54 and placed 8th, to finish the day with 2895 total points. 

The women's heptathlon will continue tomorrow with the long jump, javelin, and 800-meter run.
