FARMINGTON, Utah (August 4, 2021) - The Big Sky Conference announced today the 2021 Preseason Coaches' Poll, with Northern Arizona ranked at the number one spot.
NAU received 71 total points, and two first-place votes which put them ahead of Montana, which received 70 points and four first-place votes.
The last time the Lumberjacks' topped the Preseason Coaches' Poll was in 2015. The team jumped four spots from the 2020 preseason poll where they ranked fifth. NAU is coming off an electrifying season as it qualified for the Big Sky Championship and is looking to return to the title match.
Heading into the fall season, NAU will start its journey on the road on Aug. 21 against Utah State before traveling to compete against Utah Valley on Aug. 23. The Lumberjacks will host their first home game of the season on Sept. 3 versus Grand Canyon.
Head Coach Kylie Louw, alongside associate head coach Alan Berrios and assistant coach Chris Campbell, look to capitalize on a fresh start and keep the momentum going coming off a 7-2-1 previous season record.
