FARMINGTON, Utah (October 18, 2022) - Rylie Curran earned her second career Big Sky Defensive player of the week award after a 2-0 weekend for the 'Jacks, taking down Northern Colorado and Montana on the road.
Curran's defense has played a vital role in the Lumberjacks success throughout conference play as the senior has led NAU's defense to only allow two goals through all Big Sky matches.Â
The senior's defensive efforts led NAU to closing out a 1-0 shutout at Northern Colorado to eliminate the Bears out of conference championship play, holding UNC to five shots on goal with zero goals allowed.
Curran's play-making on the back line at Montana led the team to its first win against the Griz since 2013. The Lumberjacks held Montana to only two shots on goal in the 2-1 win.
After a highly defensive weekend, the Lumberjacks have found themselves at the top of the Big Sky with two matches left on the season, as NAU hosts Sacramento State and Portland State to close out the regular season.
