Lumberjacks Head Into Third Round Tied for Eighth in Boulder Creek

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. (October 24, 2022) – After two rounds at the Clash at Boulder Creek, the Northern Arizona Golf team is tied for 8th place alongside UC Irvine at 18-over par.
 
Lorel Hayward paced the lineup, shooting 1-under par on the day, and climbing the leaderboard to sit 16th overall. A smooth front nine led to birdies on the 10th, 13th, and 16th as Hayward utilized the long par fives to make up some ground on her opponents.
 
Ellena Slater concluded her round at 3-over par, as a triple bogey on the ninth killed any chance at repeating her performance from the prior day. However, she quickly recovered from the hole and continued on to post an even back nine, building momentum for the final day of competition.
 
Lizzie Neale bounced back to record a 4-over par on the scorecard following a shaky first day. She split the front and back nine, posting even scores for both and finished with a 76 overall. This places her in a tie for 66th place with fellow teammate Aleksandra Chekalina.
 
The Jacks found much of their success on holes 10 and 16 as they notched seven of their twelve total birdies between the two and managed a full shot better on the 10th than the entire rest of the field. In terms of stroke differential, NAU was consistently in the middle of the pack, situated in 10th on par threes, 9th on par fours, and 12th on par fives.
 
Currently competing on the individual side are Nina Lukyaneko and Ashley Croft. Croft concluded her day at 11-over par with a couple birdies while Lukyanenko bowed out of the event on the 9th hole.
