LAS VEGAS, Nev. (February 12, 2022) - The Northern Arizona Swimming and Diving team improved individual times ahead of the WAC Championships coming up for the, as eleven swimmers competed at the UNLV First Chance Invite.
The swimmers competed individually in finals as well as timed trials. Francesca Criscione finished the 500 free in first place with a time of 5:00.58, followed by teammate Astrid Villeda who finished at 5:04.62, a top time for Villeda on the season. Anslee Dickerson finished the 200 IM in second place at 2:06.16 marking her top time of the season, followed by Jamie Dellwardt who came in at 2:13.03.
Jane Shroufe and Emma Warner competed in the 50 freestyle together, coming in second and third, respectively, at 24.17 and 26.42. Shroufe also beat out her top time of the season in the 50 free. Competing in the 400 IM Abigail Tashlein and Illiana Moore finished at 4:31.73, and 4:35.05, respectively, while Moore earned her top time of the season. Kendall Carlson impressed in the 100 butterfly, finishing in first with 57.79, marking a new top time os the season. Bena Koehn came in second in the 200 freestyle at 1:52.42.
Dickerson finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:04.80. Shroufe finished first in the 100 freestyle at 52.41, earning a new top time. Dellwardt placed first in the 200 backstroke at 2:05.05. Finishing up the finals, Moore and Seiber competed in the 200 breaststroke finishing at 2:26.29, and 2:27.01, respectively, both coming up with new top times in the event.
Starting up the timed trials, Koehn finished first with a time of 5:07.45 in the 500 free. Abigail Tashlein competed in the 200 IM, finishing with a time of 2:11.91. Criscione, Villeda, and Dickerson all competed in the 400 IM, finishing with 4:29.40, 4:31.08, and 4:34.22, respectively, while Villeda and Dickerson earned top times. Carlson competed in the 200 Butterly, finishing at 2:07.78 .The 100 backstroke featured Dellwardt and Seiber who finished at 57.76, and 1:00.02, respectively, where Seiber earned a top time in the event.
Finishing out the day for the Lumberjacks, Shroufe finished at 1:04.67 in the 100 breaststroke, earning one more top time.
"There were some lifetimes bests today, good swims all around and a good sign for final preparation for the WAC," Head Coach Andy Johns said.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action at the Western Athletic Conference on Feb. 23-26.
