Lumberjacks to Split Home and Away Matches This Weekend

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 17, 2022) - The Northern Arizona Men's Tennis team will host UC San Diego on Friday night, before heading to the University of New Mexico on Sunday to take on the Lobos.

Friday night's match against the Tritons will begin at 6 p.m. MST, and is free to the public, you can stream the live results here. Sunday's match at UNM is set to begin at 12 p.m. MST, and you can receive live results here.

The Lumberjacks are returning to play and looking to bounce back after two tough losses last weekend at the ITA #17 Nationally Ranked, University of Arizona. The 'Jacks are sitting at 6-3 overall on the season, with wins coming in against Arizona Christian, Western New Mexico, Omaha, and the Air Force Academy.

UC San Diego has started off their season on a five match losing streak, leaving their record at 0-5 with only one away match under their belt. The Tritons losses came to Nevada, Sacramento State, San Diego State, and San Francisco. The Friday matchup will be the two teams first meeting in program history.

The Lobos, who will host the 'Jacks on Sunday, are 2-2 through the season, with wins to Santa Clara and Grand Canyon University, while their losses came while facing Utah and Gonzaga. Lobos Freshman, Arda Akzara earned himself Mountain West freshman player of the week after a 2-0 weekend of singles and 1-1 in doubles play, after the teams two wins.
