TEMPE, Ariz. (February 23, 2022) - In the latest ITA National Rankings released this morning, the Northern Arizona men's tennis team was ranked No. 68, marking the first national ranking in program history.
"This is another major step for NAU. Many current and former student-athletes, coaches, staff and administrators worked tirelessly for this recognition over the last few seasons," Head Coach Maciej Bogusz said.
With a tough schedule to start the season and multiple impressive wins in doubles and singles play, the Lumberjacks earned their first ITA ranking honor. The accolade comes for the 'Jacks as they are 7-4 on the season, and remain undefeated at home, with a 5-0 record.
The ITA published their first computer Top 75 rankings of the season Wednesday morning, with Tennessee in first, followed by Texas Christian, Ohio State, Baylor, and USC. The ITA bases their rankings off of accumulation of win and loss points, a win-loss record, strength of schedule, and depth of wins and losses.
The Lumberjacks will begin a three match homestand this Friday, hosting a double-header facing Mesa Community College and New Mexico State at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. MST, respectively. The 'Jacks will take on Grand Canyon University on Saturday at 4 p.m. MST. To stay up to date with NAU Men's Tennis, follow the team on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
