TEMPE, Ariz. (March 2, 2022) - For the second week in a row, the Northern Arizona Men's Tennis team has been nationally ranked by the ITA, moving up to No. 65.
After a weekend full of sweeps for the 'Jacks, they sit on the ITA's list of the top 75 nationally ranked teams through Division I Men's Tennis, marking the second time in program history after last week's ranking at No. 68.
The team completed a 7-0 win to Mesa Community College on Friday morning, while adding a 7-0 victory Friday afternoon to New Mexico State, before completing the weekend sweep with a 4-0 win to Grand Canyon University on Saturday.
Highlighting the weekend was doubles pairing Eban Straker-Meads and Facundo Tumosa, Dominik Buzonics and Alex Groves, and Maciej Ziomber and Daniel Dillon. Straker-Meads and Tumosa each moved up to 8-4 in their individual doubles records, as Buzonics and Groves each sit at 9-5, and Ziomber holds a 8-3 record while Dillon holds a 9-3 record in doubles play.
The team is .700 in doubles play as a whole, and .684 in singles through the season, just ahead of conference play. With notable singles records, Groves has earned a 10-3 record playing on courts four and five primarily. Ziomber holds a 10-2 record, primarily competing on courts three and four.
The Lumberjacks will host one match at home this weekend to start up Big Sky conference play. NAU is set to take on Eastern Washington on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. MST in the Aquatic and Tennis Complex.
