TEMPE, Ariz. (April 8, 2022) — Northern Arizona rewired several Big Sky rankings at day two of the Sun Angel Classic, and Madeline Wilson finished the women's heptathlon with a score of 4,795 points.
The Lumberjack throws unit found their groove today as Carly Watts (50.40m) and Matilde Roe (49.36m) threw the women's discus for the Big Sky season best and second-best marks; William Beaudry threw 51.80 meters in the men's discus to rank second in the conference this season as well.
Meanwhile, Jacob Kaufman and Jack Murphy threw personal bests of 61.77 meters, and 61.70 meters in the men's hammer to respectively become fourth and fifth in the Big Sky.
The trend successfully flowed throughout the field and onto the track as Jack Normand's high jump height of 2.02 meters now ranks fifth in the conference.
The track heated up quickly and remained hot, as Trenton Givens (14.39), Tyson Givens (14.71), and Wil Peralta (14.72) qualified for the men's 110-meter hurdle finals tomorrow.
Both Alyssa Colbert (24.12) and David Dunlap (20.57) replaced their leading conference 200-meter times with even faster marks to maintain their first place rankings; Miracle Onyemaobi (24.44), LiNay Perry (24.45), and Synfanie Crudder (24.84) now sequentially hold third, fourth and eighth place in the Big Sky, while Erick Thompson Jr. now ranks fifth in the conference this season.
Wilson wrapped up the heptathlon with a total of 4,795 points, after jumping 5.24 meters to score 626 points in the long jump, throwing 25.68 meters in the javelin to add 398 points, and finishing the 800-meter run in 2:35.10 to grab 630 points to end the evening.
The Lumberjacks will be back on the track and in the field tomorrow for the third and final day of the ASU Sun Angel Classic.
