FARMINGTON, Utah (May 23, 2022) – After another Big Sky Outdoor Championship title sweep, Northern Arizona's Drew Bosley, Alyssa Colbert, and Mike Smith have respectively earned the Men's & Women's Freshman of Year and Coach of the Year awards.
Drew Bosley - Big Sky Men's Freshman of the Year
Bolsey, the two-time cross country NCAA Championship title team member, and two-time All-American, is a recognizable name for Lumberjack fans who follow the program during the fall, however, this is Bosley's first year competing on the track.
At outdoor championships two weeks ago, Bosley championed the men's 5000-meter and earned silver in the men's 10000-meter races to earn 18 points for NAU.
Alyssa Colbert - Big Sky Women's Freshman of the Year
Colbert is also quickly becoming a household name for Lumberjack fans, as she just earned Indoor Freshman of the Year in February as well; this year, Colbert has broken two NAU women's records (Indoor 60m; Outdoor 100m), and most recently set the Big Sky All-Time and Big Sky Championship 100-meter records at the 2022 Big Sky Outdoor Championships.
Her record 100-meter time earned gold in the event, while also grabbing gold in the 200-meter, and running a leg of the women's third-place 4x100-meter, to contribute 20 points toward the women's All-Time Big Sky record of 244 points.
Mike Smith - Big Sky Coach of the Year
Smith led the Lumberjack men and women to their second consecutive outdoor sweep, their sixth historical outdoor sweep and their 24th and 13th respective all-time outdoor team titles; with this award, he claims his fourth Women's Coach of the Year title and his third Men's Coach of the Year award.
