FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (August 22, 2022) - The Lumberjacks are hosting the South Dakota State Jackrabbits tomorrow for the two teams first meeting on the soccer field in program history.
The match will kick off at 7 p.m. MST in Lumberjack Stadium, with live stats available here. You can stream the game through ESPN+ here.
The Lumberjacks are coming off of their first regular season match where they tied with Utah State, 2-2. In what was supposed to be the second match of the week for NAU, Mikhail Johnson found the back of the net just ten minutes ahead of the match being delayed due to lightning. The game was later canceled.
True freshman Avery Ott earned the start for the 'Jacks in the matchup against Utah State, where she found success in the 27th minute, scoring her first career goal in blue and gold. Dai Williams had the assist on the goal after connecting off a pass from Mikhail Johnson, tipping the ball to Ott who had the open shot.
South Dakota State will head up the mountain to take on their third Arizona school in just three days, as they faced Arizona State to kick off the regular season, followed by GCU.
The Jackrabbits and ASU's match ended in a 1-1 draw, as SDSU's Maya Hansen scored the team's lone goal. Avery Murdzek picked up a goal at GCU, as the team earned the 1-0 victory. Goalkeepers Hailee Fischer and Jocelyn Tanner earned the shared shutout, as Fischer came away with one save throughout the match.
