FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (January 27, 2022) – The Northern Arizona University track & field teams sent athletes to three meets this weekend, with each group seeing success on their first day of competition.
Drew Bosley made his presence known as he competed in the John Thomas Terrier Classic. He broke the school, conference, and collegiate 3000-meter record with a time of 7:36.42. This is Bosley's first time competing in the 3K this season. He previously competed in the 5K in December, earning himself a spot at number 5 on the Collegiate All-Time Records list.
Mitchell Effing also earned himself a place in history, jumping 7.84 meters in the long jump to win the event at the UNM Team Open. He moved to number seven in the country, and third on the NAU All-Time Records list. Effing will compete tomorrow in the triple jump.
Also competing in Albuquerque was
Jack Normand, who finished sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.96 meters. Normand will also compete in the triple jump tomorrow.
Brenna Rodriguez set a lifetime best in the long jump at the UNM Team Open, with a mark of 5.79 meters, finishing ninth in the event.
Kenashalee Kerr placed 29
th with a mark of 5.32 meters.
Jenna Figueroa competed in the high jump, taking 12
th place with a jump of 1.61 meters. Rodriguez, Kerr, and Figueroa will all compete in the triple jump tomorrow.
In Lubbock at the Texas Tech Open & Multis,
Alyssa Colbert and
David Dunlap each competed in the 60-meter. Colbert ran a time of 7.37 in the first round to qualify for the finals, in which she placed sixth with a time of 7.33. Dunlap ran a time of 6.71 in the first round, narrowly missing out on a trip to the finals. Both Colbert and Dunlap will compete tomorrow in the 200-meter.
