NAU Hosts Four in Second Lumberjack Diving Invite

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 2, 2023) - The Lumberjack Diving squad and head coach Nikki Kelsey are gearing up to host the Lumberjack Diving Invite this weekend at the Wall Aquatic Center. The invite will be free to the public to attend.

The Jacks will be hosting Idaho, New Mexico, New Mexico State, and San Diego State for the three day invite, with 25 divers entered to compete. Friday will consist of the 3m event, with prelims starting at 10:30 a.m. MST, followed by 3m finals where the top 18 will advance.

Saturday will be the 1m event, where prelims will begin at 10:30 a.m. MST, followed by 1m finals where once again the top 18 will advance. Sunday will include platform dives, starting at 9 a.m. MST, along with a team event to conclude the meet. Results for the three days will be available here.

NAU hosted the first Lumberjack Diving Invite of the season back in November, putting on a show in the platform event. The Jacks finished five divers in the top ten out of 25 athletes completing in the event total.

Sophomore Makenna Sammons impressed throughout all three days of competition, earning her WAC diver of the week accolades following the invite. Sammons finished on the podium in three out of four events, with four top five finishes. Sammons placed second in the 3m event with 274.05. The sophomore finished third on the 1m boards, with a NCAA zone qualifying score of 270.90.
