ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (March 10, 2023) – The Northern Arizona track & field teams had a successful first day at the NCAA Indoor National Championships. The men finished the day with a total of 11 points to put them in fourth place.
Highlighting the first day of the meet were
Drew Bosley and
Nico Young in the 5000-meter, who each earned All-American status. Bosley finished third behind Tennesee's Dylan Jacobs and BYU's Casey Clinger, running a time of 13:38.62. Young was close behind in fourth with a time of 13:40.55.
The other men's competitors also had a successful day after putting up strong efforts.
David Dunlap finished .01 seconds off his regular season best 200-meter time in the prelims of the event. His time of 20.69 put him at 14
th overall.
Mitchell Effing put up a strong effort in the long jump, finishing 14
th overall with a jump of 7.55 meters.
Despite being low in numbers, the Lumberjack women found a lot of success on the first day of the national meet.
Annika Reiss ran a personal best time of 4:41.24 in the mile to qualify for the finals which will take place tomorrow. Her time was sixth best overall of the day and ranks sixth all-time in school history.
Elise Stearns competed in the finals of the 5K, finishing in 11
th place after running a time of 16:34.04.
Drew Bosley and
Annika Reiss will be the Lumberjacks lone competitiors tomorrow. Reiss will compete in the finals of the mile at 4:00 p.m. MST, while Bosley will compete in the 3000-meter at 8:00 p.m. MST. Live results for their races can be found
