Nikki Kelsey Announced as WAC Diving Coach of the Year

ARLINGTON, Texas (March 2, 2021) - After the Jacks earned their 10th consecutive Western Athletic Conference championship, Nikki Kelsey was announced as head diving coach of the year.

Kelsey earned the WAC honors for the ninth time in her career, after coaching the NAU diving program to yet another conference title this past week in Pharr, Texas. The Jacks placed six out of eight divers in the finals of both the 1m and 3m events, while also scoring the most points in WAC championship history.

The Lumberjacks championed two of three diving events at the conference meet, with Victoria Knapp placing first on the 1m boards for the third consecutive season and freshman Margaret Wesche earned her first gold medal in the 3m event. The Jacks also earned four individual WAC diver of the week accolades this season from Grace Wesche, Margaret Wesche, Makenna Sammons, and Maegan Jensen.

Kelsey coached five divers to medals in the WAC Championships, and all divers qualified for NCAA Zone Diving Championships, throughout the 2022-23 season, that will begin Monday in Seattle, Washington.
