FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Sept. 18, 2025) - The Northern Arizona women's swim team will kick off its season with the annual Pentathlon on Sept. 19 at the Wall Aquatic Center. This year marks the 30th edition of the event.
The Pentathlon consists of five events: the 100m butterfly, 100m backstroke, 100m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, and the 200m individual medley. Points are awarded based on the swimmers' times in each race, with the highest cumulative score determining the overall winner.
Senior Gracie Munk will look to defend her title after winning the event last season with a score of 3,840. It marked her second career Pentathlon victory, the first coming in her freshman year (2022) when she posted 3,610 points.
The competition serves as a key opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season. It allows head coach Andy Johns, newly appointed assistant coach George Egesfield, and the swimmers to assess performance and make early adjustments.
The event begins at 2 p.m. Mountain Standard time, and spectators are welcome to attend.
Looking ahead, the Lumberjacks will continue their early season tradition with the Blue vs. Gold intrasquad meet on Oct. 3, where the team will split into two for a friendly competition.
