Swimming & Diving Return at Annual Blue vs. Gold Meet

FLAGSTAFF, Arizona. (September 30, 2025) – Northern Arizona swimming and diving return to competition with a familiar tradition, the Blue vs. Gold intrasquad meet, on Friday, Oct. 3, at 2 p.m. MST inside the Wall Aquatic Center.

The annual exhibition splits the Lumberjacks into two squads for a spirited matchup, serving as a valuable early-season test before the All-Arizona Invite in Tucson later this month.

Featuring 12 events that will get underway on Friday, the swimmers will take part in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, 150 butterfly, 100 freestyle, 150 backstroke, 500 freestyle, 150 breaststroke and the 400 freestyle relay.

On the boards, the divers will make their season debut in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events. The meet will also showcase a diver 100 IM and a swim/dive relay to close out the meet.

The intrasquad meet offers head swimming coach Andy Johns and head diving coach Nikki Kelsey an early look at lineups, form, and depth across the roster before the regular season begins. Last year's intrasquad brought standout performances across the board, led by dominant swims from the blue squad, who claimed a 65-39 victory.

Last year, the blue team set the tone with wins in both the 200 medley (1:46.61) and 200 free relays (1:38.40), backed by Bena Koehn's sweep of the 200 (1:55.26) and 100 free (53.54). Katarina Klatt impressed in the 50 free (24.95), Kylie Ney took the 500 free (5:08.11), and Gracie Munk added victories in the 200 IM (2:08.80) and 100 back (57.20).

On the gold side, Elsa Musselman shined in the 100 fly (56.11), and Cydnie Perkins claimed the 100 breast (1:04.35).

The divers rounded out the meet with standout performances as Grace Wesche (316.95) and Victoria Knapp (315.75) went 1–2 on the 1-meter, while Margaret Wesche secured the 3-meter win (315.30).

Friday, October 10th, the Lumberjacks travel to Tucson for the All-Arizona Invite later this month, marking their first official meet of the 2025–26 season.
