FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Oct. 13, 2024) - The Northern Arizona women's golf team will compete in the Edisto Island Invitational starting with 36 holes tomorrow (Oct. 14) and 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The tournament is hosted by the College of Charleston on the Plantation Course in Edisto, S.C. The course plays as a par 70, measuring 5,824 yards.
The Lumberjacks are coming off a two-and-a-half-week break since their last tournament at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic. They posted a final score of 879, 15-over-par for an eighth-place finish. This will be the first time that Northern Arizona has competed in this tournament.
Participating teams include: Appalachian State, Charleston, ETSU, Elon, Missouri State, Longwood, Jacksonville, Georgia State, Radford, Rollins, South Alabama, UNC Asheville, Towson, The Citadel, Stetson, and William & Mary.
Representing the Lumberjacks in the lineup will be Amy Hodgkins, Frankie Dezis, Lizzie Neale, Ellena Slater, and Nina Lukyanenko.
Dezis, a sophomore, will be returning to the course after a hot third round in the previous tournament where she fired a 70 (-2) to climb up the individual leaderboard by 12 spots to finish tied for 23rd. Her scoring average currently sits at 74.65 for her career.
Fellow sophomore Hodgkins is currently second among the Lumberjacks with a scoring average of 73.44. The Edisto Invitational will be her second appearance for the 2024-25 season.Â
The 2023 Big Sky Champion Neale leads the 'Jacks with a career scoring average of 73.24. Already this season, the junior has had three rounds at par or better, one of which was in the 60s.Â
The lineup will be rounded out by two fellow juniors, Slater and Lukyanenko. Slater has a career scoring average of 74.19. The 2023 Red Rocks Invitational champion made her first-ever hole-in-one during the third round of the Red Sky Classic. Lukyanenko holds a 76.81 career scoring average. She carded a low round of 70 (-2) in the second round of the Red Sky Classic in Sept.
Northern Arizona will tee off at 6 a.m. Mountain Standard time tomorrow in a short-gun start and 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Live scoring of the tournament will be available to follow along on Clippd.
Following this event, the Lumberjacks will go on to host the Clash at Boulder Creek in Boulder City, Nev. from Oct. 20-22.
