FARMINGTON, Utah (October 29, 2024) – Closing out the regular season with a goal and two assists to lift the Lumberjacks to a No. 4 seed entering the Big Sky tournament,
Joey Lujan was awarded the final Offensive Player of the Week honors as announced by the league on Tuesday morning.
Lujan picked up the game-winning goal in Ogden on Friday night, breaking a 1-1 tie in the 62
nd minute as
Micala Boex connected with the Gilbert, Arizona native off the corner kick for Lujan to score the header goal, marking her third goal of the 2024 campaign.
Securing the Jacks second-straight victory, Lujan played a role in both NAU goals over the Idaho State Bengals on Sunday. Lujan connected with
Valentina Navetta just ahead midfield, who sent a pass in to
Avery Ott for the 1-0 lead in the 11
th minute. Lujan was then credited for the assist on
Haylee Phoenix's goal in the 59
th minute of play to take a 2-0 lead in Pocatello.
Lujan now sits in second on NAU's points leaderboard with nine, coming off three goals and three assists while leading the team in minutes played, totaling 1,421. The Lumberjacks will now head to Missoula, Mont. for a Nov. 6 matchup with the Sacramento State Hornets at the 2024 Big Sky Tournament at 2 p.m. MST.
