FARMINGTON, Utah (Nov. 19, 2024) – After a clutch performance at Pacific on Sunday,
Nyah Moran has been named the Big Sky Conference's Player of the Week for the first time in her career. She shares the award with Esmeralda Morales from Montana State.
Moran was instrumental in Sunday's win, which is the fifth-straight over a West Coast Conference opponent for NAU. She scored 23 points for her first 20-point performance of the season, coming two away from tying her career-high.
The Riverside, Calif., native scored 12 first half points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final 30 seconds of the contest to secure the victory.
On the day, Moran was 8-for-8 from the free throw line. She made 6-of-14 from the field including 3-of-7 from three-point range. Additionally, she pulled down a season-high six rebounds and added a block and a steal in 35 minutes of action.
So far this season, Moran has scored in double figures in three out of four contests with nine in the other. She ranks third in the Big Sky in scoring with 17.0 points per game and is third in three-pointers made with 10 – shooting 34.5 percent from the field which is seventh.
Moran also adds 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game while shooting 40.7 percent from the field.
The senior is currently sitting at 923 career points and needs just 77 more to join NAU's 1,000 career point club.
Northern Arizona will be back in action tomorrow night (Nov. 20) when it hosts in-state foe Arizona at 6 p.m. Mountain Standard time in Rolle.
