FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Nov. 6, 2024) - Junior Mackenna Stocker was named the Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Week, after a stellar performance this week in a meet against Idaho.
"Everyone is looking really strong for this time of year and I am excited to see what we can accomplish as a dive team and for the rest of the season," Stocker said.
This is the second time that Stocker has won this award, with her first being during the 2023 season after the fall edition of the Lumberjack Diving Invite. She earned an NCAA Zone Cut in each of the three events (1-meter, 3-meter and platform). With three other WAC squads at the invite (New Mexico State, Idaho, GCU), Stocker consistently finished above her conference competition.Â
Stocker was also named the 2024 WAC Diver of the Year. In the platform diving at the WAC Championships, Stocker set a new school record scoring 278.50 points. She also helped capture the team event title along with Grace Wesche and Margaret Wesche at the conference championship. In addition, Stocker earned the silver on the 3-meter with 306.30 points and took fourth place in the 1-meter with 287.80 points.Â
During the meet with Idaho on Nov. 2, Stocker would compete in the 1-meter scoring 304.13 and 2-meter scoring 323.70, leading her to take the top spot of the podium.Â
Stocker is the first Lumberjack to earn conference honors this season so far.
The 'Jacks will go on to meet at New Mexico State on Nov. 9, where UTRGV will also be competing.Â
