FARMINGTON, Utah (Dec. 3, 2024) – For the fourth-straight week, a Northern Arizona women's basketball player has been named the Big Sky Conference's Player of the Week, with
Sophie Glancey claiming honors for the second time this season.
It's the fifth nod of her career, and she joins
Nyah Moran (Nov. 19) and
Taylor Feldman (Nov. 26) as the other 'Jacks to win the award this season. A Lumberjack has claimed a Big Sky Player of the Week award each time it's been handed out this season, with Glancey claiming the first weekly honor of the season back on Nov. 12.
Glancey was named the St. Pete Showcase MVP after hitting the game-winning shot in overtime over James Madison and averaging a double-double, helping NAU go 2-0 over the weekend and win the invitational.
Against James Madison, she earned a double-double with 21 points and a season-high 12 rebounds. She shot 69.2 percent (9-13) from the field while adding a block, a steal, and an assist. It was the second game-winner of the season for Glancey, who also hit one in the season opener at New Mexico.
In the matchup against Tulane, Glancey earned her fifth double-double of the season and the third consecutive with 17 points and 10 rebounds. She shot 44.4 percent (8-for-18) from the field to go with three assists, three blocks and two steals.
On the weekend, the junior averaged a double-double of 19.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. The Boise, Idaho, native shot 54.8 percent from the field (17-31), and averaged 1.5 assists (3), 1.5 blocks (3), and 1.0 steals (2) per game.
This season, Glancey leads the league in points per game with 17.9 per game and second in rebounding with 9.1. She also ranks second in field goal percentage (52.3%) and second in blocks (1.6).
Northern Arizona hosts Oral Robert tomorrow (Dec. 4) for the first game of the Big Sky-Summit Challenge at 12 p.m. in the Rolle Activity Center. The Lumberjacks have won five-straight and are looking for their best start in program history at 8-1.
