NAU Tennis Ready for Road Matchups to Abilene Christian and Air Force

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 22, 2024) – After a weekend off of competition for NAU Men's Tennis (4-4), the Jacks are heading back on the road for a pair of matches in Colorado Springs as NAU will take on Abilene Christian (6-6) in a neutral match on Saturday, and Air Force (3-4) on their home courts on Sunday.
 
Saturday's meeting against the Wildcats will take place at 11 a.m. MST, while Sunday's will begin at 10 a.m. MST. Streaming for both matches will be available here.
 
Heading into the weekend with a .500 start to the season, NAU is seeking two victories ahead of next week's return to Flagstaff and start of Big Sky play against the Portland State Vikings. The Lumberjacks picked up a 6-1 victory, claiming the second-straight win in as many seasons, over the UNLV Rebels.
 
Dominik Buzonics and Semen Agynskyy paired up at the No. 3, earning the Jacks first doubles win of the day in a quick 6-1 match over UNLV's Aaron Bailey and Thomas NavarroPiotr Galus and Maikel De Boes secured the point at the No. 2, knocking the Rebels duo of Illia Maksymchuk and Taiyo Hirano, 6-4.
 
On the singles side of thingsMaciej Ziomber earned the second point for NAU with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Creed Skinner. Agynskyy would close out his match next at the No. 5 against Martin Jovenin, 6-2, 6-4. At the No. 3, De Boes picked up a comeback win to Maksymchuk, to put the Jacks up 4-0 with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory. Buzonics, playing at the No. 2, grabbed the 5-0 lead, defeating Dusan Rsovac 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. For the final singles victory of the day, Galus earned a comeback victory at the No. 4 against UNLV's Bailey, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
 
Agynskyy and Ziomber lead the Jacks in singles play this season, each holding a 3-1 record, while Agynskyy has picked a win up at the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6, and Ziomber tabs one at the No. 4 and two at the No. 6. Doubles pairing of De Boes and Galus lead the team in doubles play with a 4-2 record together at the No. 2 and No. 3.
 
Abilene Christian also holds a .500 record heading into the weekend, including a 1-5 mark against power-five conference opponents. Daniel Morozov leads the Wildcats with 12 victories in singles play while Mihaly Deli and Merse Deli remain undefeated in doubles play at the No. 3 slot.
 
Air Force is eyeing a winning record with a 3-4 start to the season while the Falcons are coming off a weekend split falling 5-2 to Stetson and then picking up a 4-0 rivalry win against Army in a match featured on College MatchDay.
