2024 Northern Arizona Football February Signing Day Central

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Feb. 7, 2024) – Northern Arizona University head football coach Brian Wright has announced the addition of 28 new Lumberjacks on the first day of the February signing period.
 
The group joins 14 Lumberjacks announced during the December signing period.

Braden Greene | RB | Fr. | 5-11 | 180 | Gilbert, Ariz. | Casteel HS
 
Braden Greene was a three-year varsity football player at Casteel High School. He accumulated 948 receiving yards on 71 catches in 29 games played, averaging 13.4 yards per catch and 32.7 yards per game with 10 receiving touchdowns.
 
As a senior, Greene played running back and rushed for 707 yards on 107 carries. He had seven rushing touchdowns and two games with 100-plus yards, averaging 6.6 yards per rush and 58.9 rushing yards per game. His senior season, he compiled 1,089 all-purpose yards, good for 90.8 per game.

Drew Heermann was a three-sport athlete in high school. For Big Horn football, he was a captain, three-year starter and lettered all four years. Additionally, he averaged 6.6 yards per carry and accumulated 48 total touchdowns.
 
Kenveon Stone | RB | Fr. | 6-2 | 220 | Kansas City, Mo. | Staley HS
 
As a senior at Staley High School, Kenveon Stone played in 10 games and split time as a running back and wide receiver. Stone rushed for 1,300 yards on 206 carries, finding the endzone 15 times. He also hauled in 51 yards on nine catches, scoring two receiving touchdowns and accumulated 1,351 total all-purpose yards.
 
Luke Edgecomb | WR | Fr. | 6-2 | 190 | Houston, Texas | St. Thomas HS
 
Luke Edgecomb primarily played as a wide receiver at St. Thomas High School in Houston, Texas. His senior year saw him haul in 1,362 receiving yards on 91 catches, scoring 16 touchdowns. He averaged 15.0 yards per catch and 104.8 yards per game. In his career, Edgecomb played in 29 times and caught 143 passes for 2,246 yards. He scored 22 career touchdowns and averaged 15.7 yards per reception and 77.4 total receiving yards per game.
 
His only rushing attempt in his career came as a senior when he rushed eight yards for a touchdown.
 
Edgecomb also has 13 career tackles with eight coming during his senior year. As a senior, he grabbed two interceptions which he returned for a total of 100 yards and a touchdown. On special teams, Edgecomb contributed with 21 kick returns for 475 yards, averaging 22.6 yards per return as a senior.
 
Ta'ir Brooks | WR | R-Sr. | 6-3 | 200 | Oakland, Calif. | McClymonds HS | New Mexico St.
 
Ta'ir Brooks started his career at Laney College, a California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) member. In 2021, he was the team's leading receiver with 34 catches for 580 yards to go with six receiving touchdowns. He compiled a career-high 116 yards on six catches in a win at American River.
 
In 2022, Brooks played in two games for New Mexico State. Again Lamar, he hauled in a career-long 62-yard reception with 70 total receiving yards in the contest.
 
Jeter Purdy | TE | Fr. | 6-4 | 200 | Atchison, Kan. | Atchison HS
 
Jeter Purdy did a little bit of everything at Atchison High School where he was on varsity all four years. In 37 career games played, he completed 15 of his 27 pass attempts for 27 yards, owning a completion percentage of over 55 percent. As a senior, he completed his lone pass attempt for 56 yards and a touchdown.
 
On the ground, he racked up 124 rushing yards on 19 carries, averaging 3.4 yards per game and 6.5 per rush. Through the air, he caught 44 career passes for 1,287 yards and 18 touchdowns. During his senior season, he caught 28 receptions for 854 receiving yards, finding the endzone 12 times. He averaged 30.5 yards per catch and 77.6 yards per game.
 
On the defensive side of the ball, Purdy racked up 125 career tackles, 54 of which came during his senior season. As a senior, he grabbed five interceptions which he returned for 220 yards and totaled 10 across three seasons. Lastly, Purdy punted 14 times for 484 yards, averaging 34.6 yards per punt as a senior with a long of 50, placing two inside the 20.
 
Brady Bakke | OL | Fr. | 6-6 | 290 | Glendale, Ariz. | Centennial HS
 
Brady Bakke will join the Lumberjacks as a true freshman in the Fall after four standout seasons for Centennial High School in Peoria, Ariz., on the offensive line. As a senior, Bakke was named Randall McDaniel Arizona Lineman of the Year and was the recipient of the Ed Doherty Medallion.
 
In 2023, Bakke helped guide Centennial to an 11-2 overall record and a No. 2 national ranking. He was named first-team All-State and first-team All-6A Northeast Valley.
 
Carson Keim | OL | Fr. | 6-2 | 275 | Chandler, Ariz. | Hamilton HS
 
Carson Keim was a team captain at Hamilton High School where he anchored the offensive line. Keim earned 6A Premier Region Honorable Mention and a second team 6A Premier All-Region nod while at Higley, playing at center, guard, and tackle.
 
Clinton Azubuike | OL | Fr. | 6-8 | 265 | Lagos, Nigeria | NFL Academy
 
Clinton Azubuike hails from Lagos, Nigeria and prepped at the NFL Academy. A three-star recruit, Azubuike chose NAU over Hawaii, UAB, Campbell and Buffalo.
 
Mattis Karrasch | OL/DL | 6-6 | 265 | Hamburg, Germany | Cheshire Academy
 
As a senior at Cheshire Academy, Mattis Karrasch played in nine games and compiled 13 total tackles, seven of which were solo, while also playing on the offensive line. Karrasch also had two sacks and was credited with three quarterback hurries, helping Chesire finish 6-2 on the year.
 
Ralph Frias III | OL | Sr. | 6-6 | 340 | Safford, Ariz. | Safford HS | Utah State
 
Ralph Frias spent five seasons at Arizona State, appearing in 26 games on the offensive line. In his final year with the Sun Devils, he played in 10 games and graduated in the Spring of 2021 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies. Frias went on to spend one season at Utah State before joining the Lumberjacks.
 
Frias is an Arizona product and prepped at Safford High School where he anchored an offensive line that helped the Bulldogs rush for 1,890 yards during his senior season. He was a three-star prospect and ranked as the No. 64 offensive tackle prospect nationally and the No. 8 overall prospect in Arizona by ESPN.com.

Sawyer Moseley | OL | Fr. | 6-6 | 250 | San Diego, Calif. | La Jolla HS
 
Sawyer Moseley was a two-way starter at La Jolla High School where he was a team captain and a first team all-league selection. Moseley will play on the offensive line at NAU, but he also played on the defensive line for two varsity seasons at La Jolla. He racked up 101 total tackles in two seasons, 28 were solo, with 4.0 tackles per game and 10.0 tackles for loss.
 
As a senior, Moseley accumulated seven sacks, 22 hurries, 60 tackles, nine tackles for loss and a breakup.
 
Cameron Babineaux | CB | Fr. | 6-1 | 170 | Lancaster, Calif. | Antelope Valley HS
 
In two varsity seasons at Antelope Valley High School, Cameron Babineaux played in 18 games and compiled 53 total tackles. His senior year, Babineaux averaged 4.1 tackles per game after accumulating 33 with 19 solo. He has four interceptions in his career, two of which came as a senior.
 
Babineaux made an impact on the offensive side of the ball as well. As a senior, he caught 26 passes for 406 yards with five touchdowns, averaging 50.8 receiving yards per game. He also racked up 81 kick return yards and 45 punt return yards for 549 all-purpose yards during his final year.
 
Canyon Moses | DB | R-Fr. | 5-11 | 195 | Midland, Texas | Midland Legacy HS | Arizona
 
Canyon Moses redshirted his lone season at Arizona before making the move to Flagstaff. Moses was a three-star prospect by 247Sports at Midland Legacy High School where he racked up 99 tackles, six tackles for loss, 13 pass breakups, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and five interceptions over two seasons on varsity. Moses also competed on the track team and was a 2-6A first-team all-district selection as a junior.

At Dillard High School, Jerry Johnson III set a school record with a 99-yard interception returned for a touchdown. Johnson redshirted his lone season at Air Force. He spent the early parts of his prep career at St. Thomas Aquina High School where he won two state championships.
 
Nahamani Harris | DB | Jr. | 6-3 | 190 | San Antonio, Texas | Cornerstone Christian HS | Texas Southern
 
Nahamani Harris spent two seasons at Texas Southern. In 2023, he compiled 44 total tackles with 25 solo. Harris earned a career-high 12 tackles in a game against Florida A&M where he was also credited with a tackle for loss. Against Southern U, he recorded five tackles and a pass breakup.
 
Shamar Hawkins | DB | Jr. | 5-11 | 190 | Chicago, Ill. | Williams Field HS | Mt. San Antonio College
 
During his lone season at Mt. San Antonio, Hawkins played in 11 games and compiled 46 total tackles, 25 of which were solo. In addition to averaging 4.2 tackles per game, he had two sacks for a loss of 14 yards and 3.5 tackles for a loss of 20 yards to go with a fumble recovery and eight breakups. He tied his career-high with eight tackles twice and had six on one other occasions. Both sacks happened in a 29-7 win over Cerritos.
 
Mt. San Antonio finished 10-1 on the year with a perfect 7-0 record in CCCAA play.
 
Simion Hines | DB | Jr. | 5-11 | 188 | Broward County, Fla. | Western HS | Louisiana-Monroe
 
Simion Hines comes to Northern Arizona after two seasons at Louisiana-Monroe. After playing in three games in 2022 with 11 total tackles, Hines appeared in 10 games in 2023 and recorded 37 total tackles, 22 of which were solo, along with a pass breakup. He set a career-high eight tackles against Appalachian State and had six at Texas A&M last year.
 
Hines prepped at Western High School in Davie, Fla., where he was a two-year starter under head coach Adam Ratkevich. As a senior, he recorded 37 tackles, 11 pass break-ups, and had three interceptions for 51 yards.
 
Thaddeus Woods | S | Fr. | 6-2 | 200 | Corona, Calif. | Norco HS
 
In two seasons at Norco High School, Thaddeus Woods played in 18 games and racked up 80 tackles, good for 4.4 per game, with 34 solo tackles. He earned 9.0 tackles for loss, four of which came during his senior season. In his career, he was credited with three quarterback hurries, six pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
 
Blake Lauritzen | LB | Fr. | 6-2 | 220 | Simi Valley, Calif. | Thousand Oaks HS
 
Blake Lauritzen was a four-year starter and team captain at Thousand Oaks High School where he also ran track. Lauritzen led the county in sacks and tied Thousand Oaks' single-game sack record with five.
 
As a senior, Lauritzen was named Defensive Player of the Year and earned first team all-league and all-county honors. He helped guide his squad to two Canyon League Championships, finishing 10-0 as a senior.
 
Ramere Davis | LB | Fr. | 6-1 | 205 | Norco, Calif. | Mater Dei HS
 
Ramere Davis played varsity football at Mater Dei High School for three seasons. In three years, Davis played in 27 games and accumulated 50 total tackles, 33 of which were solo. He averaged 1.9 tackles per game and had 18.5 career tackles for loss, recording 14.0 during his senior season. As a senior, he recorded a career-high 27 tackles.
 
Davis racked up 9.5 career sacks for a total of 79 yards, recording seven sacks as a senior, to go with seven hurries. In his final season at Mater Dei, he recovered four fumbles which he returned for 44 yards and two touchdowns. Davis was also credited with four pass breakups.
 
Trey Brown III | LB | Jr. | 6-2 | Phoenix, Ariz. | Arcadia | Contra Costa College
 
Trey Brown III played in nine games at Contra Costa College in 2023 where he compiled 60 tackles, 42 of which were solo. Brown averaged 6.7 tackles per game and added three sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss on the year. He also had two breakups and his career-high 12 tackles came in a victory over Santa Rosa, also recording nine on two other occasions.
 
Prior to CCC, Brown played in 10 games in two seasons at Duke. He spent three seasons at Arcadia High School and was a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com. He was named first team all-region and all-state as a defensive back as a sophomore and a junior. In three seasons, Brown compiled 191 tackles, 40 tackles for loss, 23 sacks, and six forced fumbles.
 
Brown's father, Ray Brown II, had a 19-year NFL career (1986-2005) with 262 career games across five different organizations before beginning his NFL coaching career.
 
Dax Monestime | DL | Fr. | 6-3 | 283 | Phoenix, Ariz. | Boulder Creek HS
 
Dax Monestime was a three-sport athlete at Boulder Creek, lettering in football, wrestling and volleyball. He was a two-year starter, captain, and letter-winner for Boulder Creek's football program. Monestime earned a 2022 honorable mention all-region nod before being named first-team all-region and honorable mention all-state the following season.
 
Across three seasons on varsity, Monestime played in 20 games with 69 total tackles, racking up 20 tackles for loss. As a junior, he also contributed with five sacks.
 
Tausagafou Ho Ching | DL | Jr. | 6-1 | 285 | Upland, Calif. | Upland HS | Houston Christian
 
In his lone season at Houston Christian, Tausagafou Ho Ching played in nine games on the defensive line. He totaled 17 tackles on the year, five of which were solo, and earned a fumble recovery against Lamar. Ho Ching also had two tackles for a loss of five yards. His career-high five tackles came in his debut against Arkansas Baptist, and he was credited with a quarterback hurry at UT Martin.
 
Ho Ching began his career at Chaffey College in 2022 where he played in 10 games. At Chaffey, Ho Ching recorded 49 tackles with four sacks, a forced fumble and 12.5 tackles for loss. He prepped at Upland High School where he earned first team All-CIFSS honors.
 
Victory Vaka | DL | Jr. | 6-3 | 340 | Westlake HS | College of the Canyons
 
Victory Vaka spent two seasons at the College of the Canyons, playing in 16 games on the defensive line. Vaka had 26 total tackles across two seasons, 15 of which were solo. He averaged 1.6 tackles per game and earned two forced fumbles and two breakups during his time. In a win at Santa Barbara, Vaka was credited with a career-best four tackles. Out of high school, Vaka was a three-star recruit according to 247Sports and originally committed to BYU.
 
Samuel Hunsaker | K | Fr. | 5-9 | 150 | Gilbert, Ariz. | ALA-Queen Creek
 
As a senior at ALA-Queen Creek, Samuel Hunsaker played in 11 games. He had 63 kickoffs for 3,496 yards, averaging 55.5 yards per kick. He had a long of 65 and recorded eight touchbacks. He also punted 10 times for 238 yards with a long of 41.
 
During his senior season, the only on the football team after a standout soccer career, he was a perfect 42-for-42 on extra point attempts. He only missed one field goal, making 11-of-12 with a long of 50. He earned 75 kick points total, averaging 6.8 per game. Against Red Mountain, Hunsaker kicked the game-winning 27-yard field goal to give his team a 17-14 victory.

Andrew Zubey will join the Lumberjacks as a long snapper but played both safety and long snapper at Higley High School. In two seasons, he accumulated 143 total tackles in 28 games, 65 of which were solo. Zubey averaged 5.1 tackles per game in his career and was credited for five tackles for loss. His senior year, he earned five interceptions which he returned for 102 yards and one touchdown. In his career, he totaled 11 pass breakups, a fumble recovery, and two quarterback hurries.
