PHARR, Texas (March 1, 2024) — Action continued at the WAC Championships for the Northern Arizona Swimming and Diving team on Friday. With one day left of competition, NAU sits at the top of the leaderboard with 572.5 points. The Lumberjacks secured more A-Final swims than any other team during today's meet and scored in 16 events.
"It was another great night of racing," head coach
Andy Johns said. "Just a great overall team effort, culminating in the 400 medley relay with the silver and I'm really happy with the results."
On the diving side of things,
Mackenna Stocker,
Grace Wesche and
Margaret Wesche captured the team event title scoring 270 points.
The evening opened with the 400-yard IM.
Maddy Rey, who won the event last year, claimed silver in the event with a time of 4:16.25.
Francesca Criscione came in fifth place with a time of 4:25.04.
In the 100-yard butterfly,
Elsa Musselman set the school record during the prelims with a time of 53.16. The previous record was set at the WAC Championships in 2016 by Alina Staffeldt, who owned the old time of 53.83. Musselman placed fourth in the A-Final clocking in at 53.59.
Caylah Jago came in seventh place with a time of 54.75.
Gracie Munk came in 16th place with a time of 57.22 and
Kendall Carlson tied in 18th place with a time of 56.66.
Helena Robla-Alvarez came in fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:49.46.
Annie Carlton came in seventh with a time of 1:50.21. In the B-Final,
Bena Koehn had the top-time of 1:49.46, coming in ninth place.
Casey Craffey came in 11th place with a time of 1:50.95 and
Meropi Eggink closed things out for the 'Jacks in 14th place clocking in at 1:51.53.
In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Cydnie Perkins came in fourth place with a time of 1:02.22.
Trelise Dance followed for NAU in sixth place with a time of 1:02.54. In the B-Final,
Delaney Phillips came in 13th place with a time of 1:03.69.
Emma Warner closed things out in the C-Final with a time of 1:08.79.
To close out individual events,
Sophie Velitchkov placed second with a time of 54.39 in the 100-yard backstroke.
Annie Carlton tied for tenth with a time of 55.73. To close out the B-Final,
Gracie Munk came in 16th place, clocking in at 56.59. In the C-Final,
Jamie Dellwardt came in 20th with a time of 57.20 and
Kendall Carlson followed with a time of 57.31.
Friday's events ended with

Cydnie Perkins,
Elsa Musselman,
Bena Koehn grabbing the silver in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:39.59.
Swimming will begin at 9:30 a.m. MST and platform diving events will begin at 11:15 a.m. MST on Saturday. The 1650 Freestyle will begin at 2 p.m. MST and the WAC's Senior Recognition will begin at 4:45 p.m. MST, followed by the finals. Action will take place at the Pharr Natatorium and will be streamed on ESPN+ and WAC International TV.
