FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 14, 2024) – Nico Young was named the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year.
Young finished his indoor season with two individual national titles in the 5,000-meter and the 3,000-meter at the NCAA Indoor National Championships. His 3,000-meter time of 7:41.01 was also a meet record.
Earlier in the indoor season, Young became the first collegiate athlete to run sub-13 minutes in the 5K as he ran a time of 12:57.14 to set a new collegiate record in the event. He also became the first athlete to run a sub-4 minute mile at 7,000 feet as he ran a time of 3:57.33 at the Lumberjack Team Challenge.
