NAU Track & Field Picked as Big Sky Preseason Outdoor Favorites

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 29, 2024) – The NAU track & field teams were picked as the conference favorites for the outdoor season in the 2024 Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Coaches Polls.

Last season, the teams swept both the men's and women's titles at the outdoor championships. Both teams have won the past three Big Sky titles, looking to sweep the conference for the fourth consecutive season.

The men scored 220.5 points at last year's Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championships, nearly breaking their own conference record which was set in 2012. The women's team scored 192 points, easily taking the team title.

The 'Jacks have seen a strong start to the season so far, with Nico Young breaking the collegiate 10,000-meter record in his first meet of the season. Madeline Wilson also etched her name in the record books, breaking the NAU school record in the 200-meter a week ago.

The Lumberjacks will continue their outdoor season today as they see a group of distance athletes compete at the Stanford Invitational. Stay up to date with NAU Cross Country and Track & Field by following us on Twitter and Instagram.
