AZUSA, Calif. (April 13, 2024) – The NAU track & field team concluded their long road weekend with multiple standout performances, including a school and conference record-breaking performance.
Colin Sahlman set a new school and conference record in the invitational 1,500-meter at the Bryan Clay Invitational as he took the event win, running a time of 3:33.96. His time is also the second-fastest in collegiate history.
Brodey Hasty was the next NAU finisher in the 1,500-meter, placing 69
th with a personal best time of 3:44.47.
Caleb Easton was close behind in 70
th with a time of 3:44.48.
Kang Nyoak and
Aaron Las Heras placed 73
rd and 74
th, respectively, with times of 3:44.82 and 3:44.90.
Annika Reiss competed in the invitational 1,500-meter, running a time of 4:15.98 to finish 35
th.
Nikita Moore and
Karrie Baloga finished 86
th and 87
th, respectively, running times of 4:21.52 and 4:21.57. Baloga's time was set a new personal best.
Bryn Morley placed 97
th with a time of 4:23.33.
Keira Moore finished 106
th with a personal best time of 4:23.94 while
Gracelyn Larkin finished 119
th with a time of 4:25.00.
Ava Mitchell placed 65
th in the women's open 'A' 1,500-meter, running a personal best time of 4:29.76.
Terrence Keyes finished 50
th in the men's open 'A' 1,500-meter after running a personal best time of 3:48.54.
Zack Munson placed 94
th with a personal best time of 3:50.56, while
Riley Human finished 149
th with a time of 3:53.61.
Ford Washburn placed 178
th after running a time of 3:57.92.
Kyairra Reigh placed fourth in the 400-meter after running a time of 52.96.
Alaynah Reed finished 80
th overall in the event with a time of 58.75.
Reigh later competed in the 200-meter, placing eighth with a time of 24.08.
LiNay Perry also competed, finishing 32
nd with a time of 24.67.
In the men's 400-meter,
Joshua Anderson finished 50
th after running a time of 48.87.
Khamis Hassan was the top NAU finisher in the 100-meter, placing 38
th with a time of 10.78.
Kyle Smith finished 51
st with a time of 10.83, while
MarcAnthony Sanchez placed 74
th with a time of 10.95.
Smith also competed in the 200-meter, placing 10
th with a time of 21.18. Sanchez finished 42
nd with a time of 21.72, while
Ian Lipsey placed 76
th with a time of 22.40.
LiNay Perry ran a time of 1:00.62, the third-fastest in school history, to place 13
th in the 400-meter hurdles.
Janelle Sanchez placed 34
th with a time of 1:02.96.
Cannon Booker placed 37
th in the men's 400-meter hurdles after running a personal best time of 54.73.
Tyson Givens was the next NAU finisher, placing 42
nd with a time of 55.19.
Ethan Seppala finished 49
th while
Trenton Givens placed 54
th, with Seppala running a time of 56.10 and Givens running a time of 59.65.
Tyson and
Trenton Givens both competed in the 110-meter hurdles as well, with Tyson placing 32
nd with a time of 15.15 and Trenton finishing 36
th with a time of 15.89.
Jyntry Rucker was the lone NAU competitor in the women's 100-meter hurdles, placing 44
th with a time of 15.03.
The men's 4x100-meter relay placed fifth after running a time of 40.60. The women's 4x100-meter relay finished fourth with a time of 45.16.
The men's 4x400-meter relay placed eighth with a time of 3:13.14. The women's 4x400-meter relay placed fifth with a time of 3:43.63.
Mitchell Effing placed fifth in the long jump with a wind-aided mark of 7.54 meters.
Ian Lipsey finished 40
th with a mark of 6.83 meters.
Christian Mutengela placed 54
th while
Sirr Butler finished 56
th, with Mutengela jumping 6.35 meters and Butler jumping 6.15 meters.
Brenna Rodriguez placed 19
th in the long jump with a mark of 5.71 meters.
Kenashalee Kerr finished ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.28 meters.
Parker Bays saw a strong performance in the shot put at the Beach Invitational, throwing a personal best 18.17 meters to place fourth. His throw puts him eighth on NAU's all-time performance list.
Jake Tucker also competed in the shot put, placing 32
nd with a mark of 16.22 meters.
Alaina Diggs placed 13
th in the women's shot put with a mark of 14.55 meters.
Sariyah Horne-Kemp put up an impressive performance in the discus, placing 15
th with a personal best mark of 48.66 meters. Tañia Duncan also competed, finishing 53
rd with a mark of 41.81 meters.
In the men's discus,
Garret Bernt placed 48
th with a mark of 49.82 meters.
