FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 19, 2024) – For one final time this season the Lumberjacks (15-6, 6-1) will host a Saturday match at the NAU Tennis Center, taking on the Idaho Vandals (5-13, 3-4) at 10 a.m. MST.
Saturday's match holds a lot on the line for the Jacks as a win would give NAU a share of the Big Sky regular season title, while finishing conference play with a 7-1 record would match Sacramento State who clinched last Sunday with a 7-0 victory over the Eastern Washington Eagles.
Before Saturday morning's match, NAU will honor seniors
Dominik Buzonics,
Maikel De Boes, and
Maciej Ziomber for their hard work and dedication to the program. Weather permitting, the match will be held on the outdoor courts at the tennis complex.
NAU is currently led by
Dani Torres in singles play as the junior holds a 13-3 record on the season while De Boes has also tabbed 13 wins with a 13-6 singles record. Ziomber follows the two closely with a 12-3 record while 7-2 in the last ten matches.
The Jacks duo of Buzonics and
Jakub Prachar currently lead the Lumberjacks while on a 10-match win streak as the pairing holds a 12-2 overall doubles record this season. Torres and Ziomber follow with an 11-4 record as a pairing.
The Idaho Vandals will look to bounce back into the win column after dropping a 6-1 match to the Hornets last Friday. At the helm of the lineup for Idaho, Francisco Gay holds a 5-3 record. Mario Duron leads the team with a 7-7 singles play record, primarily playing at the No. 4 slot. In doubles play, Alex Asenov and Sebastian Medica holds a 5-11 doubles record together with four of those wins coming at the No. 1 position.
