LAS VEGAS, Nev. (April 6, 2024) – The NAU track & field team saw a successful final day of competition at the UNLV Rebels Elite, highlighted by a school record-breaking 200-meter performance from
Madeline Wilson.
Wilson ran a time of 22.98 to break the NAU record and easily take the 200-meter event win.
Kyairra Reigh finished fourth in the event after running a time of 23.97, with
LiNay Perry close behind in sixth with a time of 24.34.
Alaynah Reed also competed, placing 17
th with a time of 25.47.
Haley Posey finished 30
th with a time of 27.02, while
Janelle Sanchez and
Jaycie Spencer placed 32
nd and 33
rd respectively. Sanchez ran a time of 27.43 while Spencer ran a time of 27.62.
In the men's 200-meter, the NAU men saw a large presence in the top-10.
Kyle Smith placed third with a wind-aided time of 21.45, with
Khamis Hassan right behind in fourth with a wind-aided time of 21.86.
Trenton Givens and
Joshua Anderson placed fifth and sixth, with Givens running a wind-aided time of 21.92 and Anderson running a time of 22.16.
Ethan Seppala placed seventh in the event with a time of 22.60, with
Ian Lipsey right behind in eighth with a wind-aided time of 22.62.
Jackson Glamann and
Cannon Booker rounded out the top 10, with Glamann finishing ninth with a time of 22.95 and Booker placing 10
th with a time of 22.96.
Sirr Butler and
MarcAnthony Sanchez also competed, placing 11
th and 13
th respectively with times of 22.97 and a wind-aided 23.24.
Trenton Givens took the event win in the 110-meter hurdles after running a time of 13.94.
Tyson Givens was right behind in second with a time of 14.73.
Zachary Taylor placed fourth in the event after running a time of 15.47.
LiNay Perry easily won the women's 400-meter hurdles after running a time of 1:01.48.
Janelle Sanchez placed third with a time of 1:04.09, and
Hannah Schmidt finished fifth with a time of 1:06.67.
In the men's 400-meter hurdles,
Tyson Givens was the top NAU finisher after placing fourth with a time of 54.12.
Ethan Seppala placed fifth with a time of 54.99 with
Cannon Booker close behind in sixth with a time of 55.09.
Zachary Taylor and
Trenton Givens finished seventh and either, respectively, after running times of 56.09 and 56.90.
Joshua Anderson and
Jackson Glamann also competed in the 400-meter, placing fifth and seventh. Anderson ran a time of 48.40 while Glamann ran a time of 50.21.
Kenashalee Kerr was the top NAU finisher in the women's 100-meter, placing eighth with a time of 12.22.
Brenna Rodriguez finished 10
th with a time of 12.28, with
Hannah Schmidt right behind in 11
th with a time of 12.32.
Haley Posey finished 19
th after running a time of 12.78 while
Jaycie Spencer placed 22
nd with a time of 12.96.
Kyle Smith placed second in the men's 100-meter, running a time of 10.55.
Khamis Hassan placed third with a time of 10.59, while
Ian Lipsey finished sixth with a time of 10.87.
The NAU women took the event win in the 4x400-meter relay, with
Madeline Wilson,
LiNay Perry,
Hannah Schmidt, and
Kyairra Reigh combining to run a time of 3:39.14. The 'B' relay squad finished sixth, with
Brenna Rodriguez Odessa Zentz,
Janelle Sanchez, and
Haley Posey combining to run a time of 4:01.75.
The men's 'A' squad saw a close second-place finish, with
Joshua Anderson,
MarcAnthony Sanchez,
Cannon Booker, and
Ethan Seppala combining to run a time of 3:15.08. The 'B' squad finished third, with
Tyson Givens,
Kyle Smith,
Khamis Hassan, and
Sirr Butler combining to run a time of 3:23.95.
The women's 'A' relay squad placed second in the 4x100-meter, with
Kyairra Reigh,
Brenna Rodriguez,
Kenashalee Kerr, and
Madeline Wilson combining to run a time of 46.48. The 'B' squad placed fifth, with
Alaynah Reed,
LiNay Perry,
Hannah Schmidt, and
Haley Posey combining to run a time of 48.24.
The men's 'A' squad also finished second, with
MarcAnthony Sanchez,
Kyle Smith,
Trenton Givens, and
Khamis Hassan combining to run a time of 41.04. The 'B' team placed third with
Ian Lipsey,
Mitchell Effing,
Cannon Booker, and
Joshua Anderson combining to run a time of 42.00.
Hayley Burns took the event win in the 1,500-meter after running a time of 4:41.99.
Odessa Zentz won the 800-meter after running a time of 2:13.57, with Burns placing second with a time of 2:14.41.
Riley Human was the lone men's distance runner today, placing second in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:00.31. Human also finished second in the 800-meter, running a time of 1:54.03.
Alaina Diggs placed second in the women's shot put, throwing 14.54 meters.
In the men's shot put,
Parker Bays placed second with a mark of 17.00 meters while
Jake Tucker finished fourth with a mark of 16.06 meters.
Drayden Allen finished eighth with a mark of 15.08 meters, with
Trystan Gillis placing 12
th after throwing 10.94 meters.
Piper Pfister placed third in the javelin throw with a mark of 43.63 meters, with
Emilia Betlej placing fifth with a mark of 37.73 meters.
Clay Carbajal finished second in the men's javelin throw with a mark of 59.98 meters.
Clayton Zupke finished fourth after throwing 55.95 meters, while
Karim Grissett placed sixth with a mark of 50.36 meters.
Mitchell Effing and
Sirr Butler placed third and fourth in the triple jump, with Effing jumping a wind-aided 14.83 meters while Butler jumped a wind-aided 13.74 meters.
