Neale Sees Improvement During Round Two of NCAA Regionals

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (May 7, 2024) –
Northern Arizona University women's golfer Lizzie Neale showed a three-stroke improvement from day one today during the second round of the NCAA Regional Golf Championships. Neale is the lone Lumberjack representing at regionals after winning the Big Sky Conference individual title in April and has been in action at the Spanish Trail Country Club (par-72, 6,665 yards) in Las Vegas, Nev.
 
After shooting a 76 (+4) yesterday to tie for 44th, the sophomore moved up to tie for 38th after carding a 73 (+1) in today's second round to bring her 36-hole total to 149 (+5). Neale had one birdie to highlight today's action and recorded just two bogeys with the rest coming in at par.
 
The Nelson, New Zealand, native will play the final round of 18 holes tomorrow starting at 9:50 a.m. Mountain Standard time with live scoring available on Golfstat.
 
Regional play takes place across six regional sites. There are 396 participants and each site features 12 teams and six individuals. The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team will move on to the national championships on May 17-22 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., hosted by the University of Texas.
 
UCLA, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida State, California, Purdue, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kent State, Xavier, and Dartmouth make up the teams at the Las Vegas Regional.
 
Arkansas continues to lead the way after shooting 280 (-8) in back-to-back rounds as a team, holding a four-stroke lead over Purdue heading into the third round.
