FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (July 1, 2024) – Following the Paralympic trials in Minnesota this weekend, NAU's
Keegan Knott has been officially announced the U.S. Paralympic roster for the Paris games.
The Illinois native will be returning as a Paralympian for Team USA after previously competing in her first-ever games in Tokyo as the youngest on the 2021 roster. Knott will be chasing her first Paralympic podium finish in Paris.
"I'm very proud of her efforts, she swam a tough race and executed the plan well," head coach
Andy Johns said.
Knott competed in the 100 backstroke, the 400 freestyle, and the 200 IM. Friday's 400 free race proved to be her most dominant showcase of the weekend as she placed second in the S9 classification with a finals time of 4:55.34, improving by five seconds faster than her prelims finish.
In the 100-backstroke event, Knott placed fifth with an improved finals time of 1:22.41. Another fifth-place finish would find Knott in the 200 IM as she finished at 2:57.29.
"We are exceptionally proud of these athletes, who represent the best that Team USA has to offer," Erin Popovich, director, U.S. Paralympics Swimming, said. "They have taken full advantage of the shortened, three-year Paralympic quad since Tokyo, and we are so excited to support them as they compete against the best in the world this summer."
