Women’s Basketball Named Big Sky Team Academic Champions

FARMINGTON, Utah (Aug. 6, 2024) – The Northern Arizona University women's basketball team adds another academic honor to its long list of accomplishments in 2023-24, as the team won the Big Sky Conference Women's Basketball Academic Championship with a 3.63 grade point average (GPA).

This is the second-annual Team Academic Championship held by the league office which celebrates the top team academically across all sponsored sports for the 2023-24 athletic calendar. These titles were based upon combined team GPA for the entire 2023-24 academic calendar, not just the season they competed in. The Lumberjacks are tied with Idaho who also earned a 3.63 GPA. A full list of Team Academic Champions can be found below, as nine of the Big Sky's 10 full-time institutions were recognized.

In July, the NAU's women's basketball team turned in the 19th-highest GPA in all of Division I women's basketball, earning a spot on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the eighth time in program history.

Additionally, recent graduate Emily Rodabaugh was honored as NAU's Big Sky Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year and NAU's Golden Eagle Top Scholar. The Lumberjacks had nine representatives on the Big Sky Winter All-Academic Team and 12 student-athletes honored as Golden Eagle Scholars to wrap up an outstanding year in the classroom.
