FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (September 20, 2024) – Northern Arizona's
Dani Torres is the lone Lumberjack to qualify for the ITA All-American Championships, as he will kick things off in the pre-qualifying rounds on Saturday morning. Torres joins the top 128 singles players in DI men's tennis.
Torres is set to take on Marko Miladinovic of Baylor at 10:30 a.m. MST. The senior holds a 53-33 career record in singles play for the Bears, becoming a 2024 ITA Summer Nationals Doubles Champion this past offseason.
Torres led the Jacks in singles play during the Spring 2023 campaign, finishing singles play with a 14-4 record while dominating doubles play as well, finishing with a 13-7 overall record.
The senior is coming off success at the Wildcat Invite for the Lumberjacks reaching the finals of both his doubles and singles draw. Torres was paired up with sophomore Jakub Pracha
r as they claimed a 6-2 victory in the first round and a 6-4 win in the second. They would come short of winning their bracket losing to Arizona pair Alexander Rozin and Filip Gustafsson in a tiebreaker, 7-6. Torres made it to the championship after beating Paul Janson from San Diego State, 6-3, 7-5, and Tobaias Wallin from New Mexico State, 6-4, 6-3.
The ITA Men's All-American Championships will take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, September 21-29, 2024. The 2024 ITA Men's All-American Championships will have a draw size of the following, Singles: Pre-Qualifying (128), Qualifying (64), Main Draw (64) and Doubles: Pre-Qualifying (32), Qualifying (32), Main Draw (32). From this, ten singles players (10) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists). Meanwhile, four doubles teams (4) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the All-American Championships (four main draw semifinalists).
