FARMINGTON, Utah (Jan. 28, 2025) – For the eighth time this season, Northern Arizona women's basketball has claimed the Big Sky Conference's Player of the Week award, as
Sophie Glancey earns it for the fourth time this season and seventh time in her career.
NAU has collected a program record eight awards so far this season, passing the previous record of six. Glancey joins
Taylor Feldman (3) and
Nyah Moran (1) as the other 'Jacks to claim honors this year.
Glancey put on quite the performance at home over the weekend, helping the Lumberjacks go 2-0 with wins over Eastern Washington and Idaho to win four-straight games and improve to 7-1 in Flagstaff.
Northern Arizona hosted Eastern Washington on Thursday night in what served as a rematch to last year's Big Sky Conference Championship game. She scored 17 points on 8-of-18 from the field with one three-pointer, while also adding seven rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal.
On Saturday, the Lumberjacks snapped Idaho's six-game winning streak and won their seventh-straight over the Vandals. Glancey, an Idaho native, scored 28 points for her eighth 20-plus point performance of the season. She made 12-of-20 from the field and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe. From three-point range, Glancey was a perfect 2-for-2 and hit NAU's 17
th triple of the game to set a new single-game team program record for three-pointers made.
On the defensive front, Glancey was dominant with a career-high five blocks. She currently leads the Big Sky with 37 blocks this season, 15 more than second place and good for 1.8 per game. She also pulled down seven rebounds and dished three assists with grabbing two steals.
Over the week, the junior averaged 22.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. She shot 52.6 percent from the field, 60 percent from three-point range and did not miss at the free throw line.
Glancey is the Big Sky Preseason MVP after unanimously earning first team honors in 2023-24. She also leads the Big Sky with 17.8 points per game and field goal percentage (50%) while ranking fourth in rebounds (9.2 rpg). Glancey has 11 double-doubles on the year, which ranks eighth nationally. She is also 35
th in the country in total blocks, 23
rd in field goals made, 31
st in total rebounds, and 33
rd in total points.
Just a junior, Glancey is already rewriting NAU's career record books. She currently ranks ninth in points (1,193), eighth in scoring average (13.3 ppg), tied for seventh in field goals made (476), fifth in field goal percentage (51.7%), 10
th in rebounding average (6.7) and seventh in blocks (89). She is one rebound away from 600 in her career.
Northern Arizona is second in the Big Sky standings with an overall record of 16-5 and 7-1 in conference action. The Lumberjacks host Northern Colorado this Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. Mountain Standard time at Findlay Toyota Court in Flagstaff.
