Boex Headlines Big Sky Awards, Four Lumberjacks Named All-Conference

FARMINGTON, Utah (November 4, 2025) – Northern Arizona women's soccer claimed one major award and listed four players on the Big Sky All-Conference teams, as the league announced its end-of-season awards on Tuesday morning.

Junior forward Micala Boex took home Co-Offensive Most Valuable Player in addition to being named to the All-Conference Second Team, while senior midfielder Avery Ott was named to the All-Conference First Team. Joining Boex on the second team is sophomore forward Valerie Llamas, with junior defender Erin O'Connor receiving a nod to the Honorable Mention team.

The four selections mark the eighth straight season NAU has garnered at least three selections to the All-Conference teams. It is also the fourth straight year the Lumberjacks earned a major award from the league, going back to head coach Alan Berrios being named Coach of the Year in his inaugural campaign in 2022.

Boex captures the first major award and All-Conference selection of her career. The forward led NAU offensively all season long, tallying a team-leading 20 points by way of seven goals and six assists. The junior also provided two game-winning goals and earned two Big Sky Player of the Week awards throughout the season. (multi-point games) Boex finished the regular season 3rd in the conference in points per game (1.18). She also ties with Weber State's Grace Kirby for the most multi-point games in the conference (four).

Ott garners the second All-Conference nod of her career after receiving Second Team All-Conference in 2024. The midfielder was a threat on the pitch all season long as she also recorded seven goals and one assist for 15 points, while leading the conference in shots per game (3.47). Against Hawai'i on August 28, Ott became the fifth player in program history with a hat trick to her name as she recorded three scores in a 4-2 win for the 'Jacks. The six points in the contest were tied for the most by any player in the Big Sky. She also delivered a brace against Montana in the conference opener for the 2-1 win over the Grizz. Both Ott and Boex finished tied for second in the league in total goals.

Llamas earns her first nod to the All-Conference teams. The sophomore was key in the transition game and counterattack for NAU as she tallied two goals and three assists for five points.

O'Connor contributed on both sides of the field, as she played a key role on the backline for NAU as well as chipping in one goal and one assist, highlighted by an Olimpico against Idaho State. The Lumberjacks finished the regular season third in GAA (1.18).

NAU begins the Big Sky Championships tomorrow, Nov. 5 in the quarterfinals against Eastern Washington. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. Mountain Standard time and will be streamed on ESPN+.
