FARMINGTON, Utah (Feb. 25, 2025) – For the second-straight week and seventh time this season, Northern Arizona women's basketball player
Sophie Glancey has been honored as the Big Sky's Player of the Week.
Glancey shares the award with Esmeralda Morales from Montana State, and she has now won the award four times in the last five weeks. It gives Northern Arizona a Big Sky record 11 awards in a single season, as
Taylor Feldman has been honored four times and
Nyah Moran has been honored once. Glancey now has 10 awards in her career.
The Preseason Big Sky MVP helped Northern Arizona go 2-0 in a pair of road games and Idaho and Eastern Washington, earning the season sweep over both teams. She averaged a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds per game and now ranks sixth in the nation with 16 double-doubles in 29 games played this season.
In her home state of Idaho, she scored 13 points and added 10 rebounds while leading the team with three assists and added a block. She shot 62.5 percent (5-8) from the field and was 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
Against Eastern Washington, she scored 25 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to with a career-high six blocks. Glancey shot 50 percent (10-20) from the field and three-point range (2-4) and was 3-for-4 at the free throw line. She also added three assists and a steal.
On the weekend, in addition to averaging a double-double, she averaged 3.0 assists and 3.5 blocks per game. The junior shot 53.6 percent (15-28) from the field, 2-for-4 (50%) from three-point range and 85.6 percent (6-7) at the free throw line. She also moved up on NAU's all-time rebounding and career blocks list, ranking seventh and fifth all-time, respectively.
She has scored at least 20 points in 13 games this season, scoring in double figures 26 times. She leads the Big Sky in scoring (18.1 ppg), field goal percentage (50.7%) and blocks per game (1.8 bpg) while ranking fourth in rebounding (9.4 rpg). On a national level, she also ranks 16
th in field goals (205), 22
nd in points (524), 54
th in points per game and 20
th in rebounds (272).
Northern Arizona is on a five-game winning streak heading into the final week of the regular season. The Lumberjacks take on Northern Colorado on Saturday, March 1 at 6 p.m. Mountain Standard time in Greeley, Colo., before returning home for Senior Night on Monday, March 3 at 6 p.m. MST at Findlay Toyota Court.
