HOUSTON, Texas (Feb. 26, 2025) - The Northern Arizona women's swimming and diving team completed the first day of the Western Athletic Conference Championships today, leading with 114 points.
The 'Jacks got started with the three-meter diving event preliminaries, with each diver completing six dives. Mackenna Stocker took the top spot in the preliminary round, scoring 307.50, Victoria Knapp placed third with 273.05. Margaret Wesche finished with 266.80 for fourth place. Kendall Marquez placed fifth with 262.95 while Grace Wesche placed sixth with 255.95. Catalina Devia took 11th with a score of 234.15.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Northern Arizona finished with a DQ due to a fault.
Following this, the Lumberjacks competed in the 800-yard free relay. Northern Arizona took second place, thanks to Helena Robla-Alvarez, Kylie Ney, Bena Koehn and Casey Craffey who recorded a time of 7:16.03.
To finish out the first day was the 3-meter diving finals. Eight divers advanced from the preliminaries, five of which were Lumberjacks. Knapp was the champion with a final score of 305.05. Stocker took second with 304.35. Margaret Wesche finished third with 294.50, while Grace Wesche placed fifth with 269.75. Rounding out the finals, Marquez finished with 252.65 for eighth.
Day two of the WAC Championships begins tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. Mountain Standard time. The events will include one-meter diving, the 500-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley, the 50-yard freestyle, and the 500-yard freestyle.
