Women’s Basketball Celebrates Senior Night on Monday against Idaho State

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 2, 2025) – With the postseason less than a week away, the Northern Arizona women's basketball team has one more piece of business to take care of during the regular season when it hosts Idaho State on Monday night at Findlay Toyota Court in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Tipoff for Senior Night is set for 6 p.m. Mountain Standard time. Prior to the contest, the Lumberjacks will honor three seniors in Nyah Moran, Leia Beattie, and Olivia Moran – a trio that has combined for 101 wins and 376 games played.

The Lumberjacks have locked in a No. 2 seed for next week's Big Sky Conference Championships in Boise, Idaho, but have plenty to play for on Monday night. If Northern Arizona beats Idaho State and Montana State loses to Idaho, the Lumberjacks can clinch a share of the regular season title with the Bobcats - marking its second regular season championship in the past three seasons. If MSU beats the Vandals regardless of NAU's results, Montana State will clinch the title outright. Montana State and Idaho tip at 7 p.m. MST in Moscow, Idaho.

A victory will also give Northern Arizona its best conference record in program history at 16-2 and will tie the single season wins record with 25. Sitting at 24-6 and 15-2 currently, the Lumberjacks have already accumulated the most regular season wins in NAU history and tied the single-season conference wins record.

Northern Arizona is coming off an 80-70 win at Northern Colorado on Saturday night. After leading 48-27 at the half after making 10 three-pointers in the first 20 minutes, NAU was outscored 43-32 in the second half and held to just two triples. Still, the Lumberjacks were able to hang on for the double-digit victory and their ninth-straight over the Bears. Four players scored in double figures, led by Taylor Feldman with 21 points on 5-of-10 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range, and 7-of-8 from free throw range. Leia Beattie scored 16 points on 6-of-12 from the field and 4-of-8 from three-point range, grabbing six rebounds, dishing a team-high four assists and added a block.

Beattie will be one of three seniors honored on Monday night. Although she was just a Lumberjack for two seasons, Beattie made an impact, playing in 65 games with 64 starts. A prolific three-point shooter, she ranks seventh all-time at Northern Arizona with 146 three-pointers made in just two seasons. She has a career three-point percentage of 40.4 percent which is second all-time. In 2024-25, she's drained 67 which ranks eighth all-time in single-season history. She has made at least three three-pointers in a game 23 times including nine this season.

The Moran twins will also break NAU's all-time games played record on Monday, with Olivia playing in her 157th game to break the all-time record and Nyah playing in her 156th. Both are five-year members of the program and eclipsed the 1,000-career point mark this season. Nyah Moran currently ranks ninth all-time on the career scoring list with 1,208 points – needing eight more to tie for eighth. Saving her best season for last, she's scored in double figures 21 times including 59 in her career and has two 20-plus point performances. After scoring 23 points in a win at Pacific earlier this season, she was honored with her first Big Sky Player of the Week award.
