ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (March 22, 2025) – The NAU Men's Tennis team fell in a close battle to the UTSA Roadrunners 4-3.
NAU Lost the doubles point with UTSA taking 2 of the 3 doubles matches. The Roadrunners won matches on court one and court three. The match on court three went into a tie breaker with
Semen Agynskyy and
Takumi Katsuda falling, 7-6(3). The NAU No. 2 doubles team of
Dani Torres and
Piotr Galus were the only Lumberjack duo to win, 6-3.
In singles, battled back by winning three singles matches, but came up short and could not win a fourth one. The Lumberjack that won in singles were Torres, Katsuda, and
Jakub Volesky.
In Torres' match, he won in three sets. Torres dropped the first set then bounced back and won the next two. He won by the scoreline of 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Torres now has a 10-4 record in singles.
Katsuda won his match in straight sets by the scoreline of 6-4, 6-2. Katsuda moved his singles record to 10-4 overall as he is also 2-2 when playing at the No. 5 spot in the lineup.
At the No. 6 position, Lange got his fourth win as a Lumberjack. The freshman won his match in straight sets, including grabbing a bagel in the second set, 6-3, 6-0. Lange is now 4-8 in singles this season.
The loss moved the Lumberjacks record to 11-8. They will look to bounce back against Eastern Washington on April 7 in Cheney, Washington.
