Track & Field to Compete in Four Meets in California this Week

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 15, 2025) – With just a month to go before the Big Sky Conference Championships, the outdoor season for the Northern Arizona track and field team is heating up. The Lumberjacks will be spending time in California this week for four different meets, taking place from April 16-19.
 
The distance runners, sprinters, and jumpers will kick things off at the Bryan Clay Invitational which is hosted by Azusa Pacific in Azusa, Calif., from April 16-18. The meet will be streamed on Flotrack and live results along with meet information can be found here.
 
On Thursday, April 17, the throwers compete at the Pacific Coast Invitational which is hosted by Long Beach State in Long Beach, Calif. Live results and meet information is available here.
 
A select group of sprinters will also be in action at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., from April 18-19 with live results available here. Finally, the Lumberjacks will conclude competition at the Beach Invitational which is also hosted by Long Beach State from April 18-19. Follow the live results here
 
The Lumberjacks were last in action on April 4 and 5 at the Stanford Invitational and UNLV Rebels Elite. There, NAU combined for 14 new all-time top ten marks including a pair of Big Sky records from Karrie Baloga (5,000-meters) and Elise Stearns (10,000-meters). Baloga, who also owns the conference and U-20 record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, will be racing in that event on Wednesday night at the Bryan Clay Invitational for the first time this season while Stearns will make her 5,000-meter debut.
 
David Mullarkey also recorded the third-fastest 10,000-meter in program history to earn Big Sky Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors along with Baloga who earned the same award on the women's side. Baloga ranks fourth in the country in the 5,000-meters while Stearns is 11th in the 10,000-meters.
 
As a team, Northern Arizona owns the top five spots in the Big Sky in the women's 5,000-meters and the men's 10,000-meters. On a national level, Mullarkey ranks third in the country in the 10,000-meters while Drew Bosley ranks sixth.
 
Desmond Lott leads the Big Sky Conference and ranks 35th in the nation in the hammer throw with a mark of 64.72-meters.
 
Other Big Sky Conference leaders include LiNay Perry (400m, 52.77), Ford Washburn (5k, 13:37.69), Josiah Johnson (400mh, 51.70), Lott (discus, 55.56m) and Sariyah Horne-Kemp (hammer, 57.43m).
