Three Lumberjacks Claim Weekly Big Sky Honors

FARMINGTON, Utah (April 21, 2025) – Following successful performances over the past week in California, three Northern Arizona track and field athletes have earned weekly Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Week honors in Maggi Congdon (women's track), Drew Bosley (men's track) and Desmond Lott (men's field).

Congdon earns her fourth weekly honor of her career (two indoors, two outdoors) and the first of the outdoor season after breaking two Big Sky Conference and NAU records at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif.

On Thursday night, Congdon clocked 2:00.27 to finish second overall behind LSU's Michaela Rose (2:00.22) in the invitational section of the 800-meters. She broke Angela Chalmers' school record of 2:03.52 that had stood since 1987, and the Big Sky's record of 2:02.95 that had stood since 2011. Her time is currently the fourth-fastest in the NCAA this season and was a personal best of over five seconds, crushing her previous best of 2:05.38 that was fourth all-time in program history.

Two days later, she broke her own 1500-meter record in his first race in the event since the 2024 Olympic Trial finals. She ran 4:07.23 to place second overall, breaking her previous record by .58 of a second (4:07.81). The time currently ranks sixth in the nation.

Between indoors and outdoors, Congdon currently owns five individual school records and three relay records.

In his first outdoor 5,000-meter race since the 2022 season, Bosley ran a personal best of 13:17.06 to place fifth overall in the stacked field at the Bryan Clay Invitational. The time currently ranks sixth in the nation and was an eight-second personal best that moved him from eighth to fifth on NAU's all-time top ten list. It's the second weekly honor of his career and first of the season.

Lott had a busy weekend, competing in four different throwing events across two separate meets. At the Beach Invitational, he won the discus with a toss of 55.02-meters. He also placed third in the hammer throw with a personal best of 64.93-meters which ranks fifth all-time in program history. Lastly, he placed 16th in the shot put with a mark of 16.81-meters.

His hammer throw mark leads the Big Sky and ranks 39th in the nation. Additionally, Lott ranks second in both the shot put (17.68m) and the discus (55.56m). It is his second honor of the outdoor season and the third of his career, also taking home Field Athlete of the Week during the indoor season.

Northern Arizona has a week off before competing in their final regular season meet of the season on May 3 at the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Ariz.
