UNLV Rebel ELITE Day One Results
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 4, 2025) – The Northern Arizona men's and women's track and field team saw records fall today at the Stanford Invitational and the UNLV Rebels ELITE. The distance runners were on hand in Palo Alto, Calif., while the jumpers and throwers competed in Las Vegas, Nev.
Northern Arizona saw two Big Sky Conference and program records fall, with
Karrie Baloga in the 5,000-meters and
Elise Stearns in the 10,000-meters as the team set nine new all-time top ten marks as a whole.
Stanford Invitational Recap:
Karrie Baloga broke the Big Sky Conference's and Northern Arizona's all-time record in the 5,000-meters by six seconds, clocking 15:24.38 to place fourth in her heat. She breaks
Annika Reiss' record of 15:30.64 set last season. Baloga's previous personal best outdoors was 15:56.76.
Ava Mitchell also came close to the record, earning a 27-second personal record in the 5,000-meters with a time of 15:31.41 that ranks third all-time in program history.
In her first ever 10,000-meters and her first outdoor race since the 2022 season,
Elise Stearns broke both the Big Sky Conference's and Northern Arizona's record, clocking 32:33.18. She breaks Billie Hatch's from Weber State's conference record of 32:36.74 set in 2023 and
Ali Upshaw's school record of 32:53.65 set in 2024.
Alexis Kebbe clocked 33:55.75 in the 10,000-meters which is the eight-fastest time in program history, breaking her previous personal best of 36:26.86 by nearly three minutes.
Also setting new all-time top ten marks outdoors was
Hayley Burns who won her heat with a 48-second personal best of 15:39.97 in the 5,000-meters that ranks seventh all-time. Right behind her was
Emma Stutzman, making her outdoor debut with a time of 15:48.92 to rank eighth all-time. Also making her outdoor debut in the 5k was
Maggi Congdon who clocked 16:02.61.
A trio of Lumberjacks set new personal bests in the invitational section of the men's 10,000-meters.
David Mullarkey led the way in his outdoor debut for NAU, placing third overall with a time of 27:51.80 that ranks third all-time in program history.
Drew Bosley's last outdoor race was the 10,000-meters at the Stanford Invitational in 2023 where he ran the eighth fastest time in program history of 28:18.02. Tonight, he clocked 27:53.48 for a new personal best that ranks fifth all-time in NAU history.
Justin Keyes (28:20.85) and
Santiago Prosser (28:22.14) just missed the all-time top ten list with each earning new personal bests. Keyes' previous personal best was 31:39.31.
A handful of other Lumberjacks set new personal bests in the 10,000-meters, all going under 30 minutes for the first time in their respective careers.
Corey Gorgas clocked 28:35.17 and he was followed by Manny Perez (28:47.14),
Aidan Puffer (29:12.53) and
Erik Le Roux (29:12.83).
In the men's 5,000-meters,
Ford Washburn ran a personal best of 13:37.69 and
Jeret Gillingham made his outdoor debut, clocking 14:17.91.
UNLV Rebels ELITE Recap:
Desmond Lott got the action started in Las Vegas with a new personal best in the shot put for the second-straight week. After tossing a new personal record of 17.40-meters on his first attempt, Lott made it to finals and improved to 17.68-meters on his fifth throw to place second overall in the field. The mark ranks ninth all-time in program history, moving him up one spot on the all-time list.
Lott also made finals in the hammer throw, tossing 60.76 meters to place fourth. Nicolas Strait made it to finals in the hammer throw as well, recording three-straight personal bests improving from 51.00-meters to 52.84-meters before ending with a personal best of 53.30-meters to make it to finals and place eighth overall in the field.
Grant Wade also recorded a new personal best of 47.47-meters to place 17
th.
Sariyah Horne-Kemp led the way in the hammer throw, making the finals with a mark of 57.43-meters to place second.
Jamie Jacobs (10th, 51.44-meters) and
Larissa Francois (17th, 46.87-meters) each earned new personal bests in the event.
Francois also recorded a personal best in her outdoor debut in the shot put, tying for 17th with a toss of 12.67-meters.
In the women's long jump,
Brenna Rodriguez made finals and placed sixth with a leap of 5.87-meters, just shy of her personal best.
Alexa Hamilton placed 13
th after recording a new personal record of 5.50-meters.
Both
Ian Lipsey and
Malachi Marshall made it to finals in the men's long jump. Lipsey finished fourth, saving his best jump for last with a mark of 7.33-meters. Marshall placed ninth, jumping 7.11-meters.
Cam Canady leaped two consecutive personal bests in the long jump, beginning with 6.46-meters before improving to 6.51-meters, placing 16
th.
Julian Moore also recorded consecutive personal bests to start the long jump, leaping 5.88-meters before improving to 6.12-meters, placing 21st overall.
