FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 9, 2025) – The NAU Men's tennis team will round out their season with two home matches this weekend. The first match is on Friday, April 11, facing the Sacramento State Hornets, followed by a Saturday, April 12 meeting against the Montana State Bobcats.
Saturday's match will mark senior day for NAU. The two seniors on the team are
Dani Torres and
Piotr Galus. Torres was the only Lumberjack to compete in the ITA Masters Championships, where he made it to the quarterfinals.
Galus has been one of the best singles players for the Lumberjacks this season, as he has accumulated a 12-5 record. He is currently on a three-match winning streak and is 7-2 in the last 10 matches.
NAU is coming off of a three-match road trip where they picked up three wins and won at least a share of the Big Sky regular season title. In the latest match against the Idaho Vandals, they notched a 6-1 victory.
The matchup against Sacramento State will be a rematch of last season's Big Sky Championship. The Lumberjacks are looking for revenge from that match as they lost 1-4 and Sac State went to the NCAA tournament. This season, Sac State has a 9-9 record overall while they are 3-3 in conference. The latest match for the Hornets ended in a loss as they lost to the Nevada Wolfpack 0-4 in Reno.
Looking toward the match on Saturday, Montana State is 3-16 with a 1-3 record in conference play. NAU holds a winning record against the Bobcats with a 9-5 advantage. The last matchup between the two schools was a win for the Lumberjacks, 5-2. Torres,

Semen Agynskyy got singles wins against the Bobcats in that 5-2 win.
